The Beginning - My second project

The first time I took some stain to a freshly sanded piece of furniture, I fell in love. The way the wood absorbed the stain, the fact that I just realized I could change every piece of wooden furniture in my house if I wanted to, the way the paintbrush was my magic wand.

It was exciting!

I lived in an apartment at the time, it was in the middle of winter so the only place I could really paint was in my tiny dining room. I did the sanding by hand on my balcony. I really had no clue what I was doing and this was before Pinterest. I don’t even remember how it turned out and I’m not sure but I believe it was a table of some sorts. My main memory is that first time the stain met the wood and that was all she wrote!

The sad part about it is that I don’t have any pictures of what that first piece looked like unfortunately. But I do have my second project that I have to share because as the saying goes, it’s about the journey and not just the destination! Hopefully I phrased that correctly! So without further ado……..:.

 Project: (circa 2014-2015)

A vintage children's desk that I stained and then painted every other piece a light teal color and then I thought it would be such a cute idea to make the table part a little chalkboard

It turned out really cute and I did end up selling this piece for $65 instead of $75 but that was still a win in my book!

From Regular Artist to Painting Custom Furniture Pieces

Downtown Dallas Mural (2019)

As an artist, I have always been drawn to creating and expressing myself through various mediums. While I have dabbled in everything from watercolors to digital art, I found myself increasingly drawn to the tactile nature of painting on physical surfaces. I have worn many hats as an artist from mural painting to custom resin countertops.

One day, I stumbled upon the world of custom furniture painting. At first, I was hesitant to take on such a big project. After all, I had never painted anything quite so large or intricate before. But as I began to do more research and practice on smaller projects, I found myself becoming more and more confident in my abilities.

Eventually, I decided to take the plunge and start offering my services as a custom furniture painter. It was a bit of a learning curve at first, as I had to figure out the best techniques and products to use on different types of furniture and surfaces. But with time and practice, I was able to perfect my process and start taking on more and more challenging projects.

Now, I am proud to say that I am a full-time custom furniture painter. I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients, from homeowners looking to give their old pieces a fresh new look to small businesses looking to add some personality to their spaces.

One of the things I love most about this line of work is the creativity it allows me to tap into. Each piece is a new canvas, and I enjoy the challenge of bringing my clients' vision to life. Whether I am working on a vintage dresser or a modern dining table, I am constantly learning and growing as an artist.
